Mystery Expedition: Prisoners of Ice , is a HOPA* game, developed by Lazy Turtle Games and published by Tri Synergy Inc.
*HOPA – Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure.
They’re somewhat dated but still overall good. The visuals can be adjusted in the option menu.
I want to mentioned that the audio for this game is well done even its simplistic and somewhat repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the option menu as well.
There are only two difficulty game modes to choose from: Easy, Expert and Adventure (Custom.)
Notebook has three sections: Cutscenes, Notes and Map.
The inventory panel has the option of locking in place to make it stationary.
All of the game’s hidden object scenes consists of traditional word lists with some or no interaction.
Most of the game’s puzzles are fairly easy to solve without having the need to skip any of them.
There is a unique feature in the game. Igloo with a pet penguin. Collecting coins that are found throughout the game. Coins are used to buy certain items for the penguin but they don’t come cheap. Relics are displayed on the icy shelf behind the penguin.
There are ten different relic collectibles to find throughout the game.
There are eighteen different beyond object (morphing) to find throughout the game as well.
There twenty-eight different achievements to earn from playing the game. Only three achievements are tied to hidden object scenes, puzzles and completing the game. The remainder of the achievements are tied to finding all of the changing and relic items in the game.
Final thoughts, I’ve found this game enjoyable to certain extend. The replay value for this game is low. I would recommend this game but not at the full price.
